These past few years on the Internet have been intense, let me tell you. Like the swing of the Smithsonian pendulum, only with less surety, with less continuity, it never stops.
We've seen the acquirement of great wealth from relatively simple and innocuous ideas and we've come to get used to the fall of the mighty as well. At one point AOL, the mighty AOL seemed , well, unassailable for the most part. But then... because of bad business practices or inept management or some other foolish reason, all the cards came crashing down. This was even after AOL had managed an unimaginable coup', the purchase and takeover of a venerable stalwart, TIME, you know, "man of the year" stuff? Come on the scene, one of the many varied, social climbing, socially intense, social-ist, social networks like Myspace, who seemingly brought so much promise to the web for performing artists, web content creators and the public in general, instilling an air of confidence as yet ever witnessed on the web. They had a good run, made millions every month, but near the closing quarter, ultimately they are unmasked as a wolf in sheep's clothing? Now it seems that havoc is about to rear its ugly head once again if two of the webs major megalith's are not careful. Intense vibes of the not so kind or polite are claimed to be, being felt from Facebook and even more surprisingly from the business powerhouse, Linked In. Say it ain't so, say it ain't so. Admittedly, both of these networks have been very useful to me and I'm not sure if I agree or not, with the great many "experts" who are surmising that these "tools" inability to innovate or come up with anything more that's meaningful and useful to the public, will soon perish. Perhaps the only way to ease the depression of the "bait and switch" all the time, supposedly "end all to be all" programs is the Superstarcase devised "globalization of performing artists and content creator careers" plan. The point is,"the World, is it ready for such a departure from what it's been fed and what it's been limited to"? Stay tuned...
